Professor and head of department, textile technology, PSG College of Technology, G. Thilagavathi said there were a few units in the country that did three-dimensional fibre weaving. The number is few as functionalities in three-dimensional weaving using these fibres are different and the units need to have the requisite technology and machinery for the purpose. In normal textiles, the price realised is minimum. In fibre assemblies, which can be converted into high-performance products, the realisation is much higher.
The unit is also required to fill the DPR field as per the Format enclosed at the time UID application and the Lending Agency has to digitally sign it, it said. The Ministry circular said that the modifications are being carried out in iTUFS software accordingly and it will be implemented with effect from August 30, 2018.The beneficiary units and Lending agencies have been asked to make necessary arrangements so that they could apply with digital signatures, on or before August 30, 2018.

Filatex plans to increase its production capacity by nearly 90,000 tonnes to 237,000 tonnes for FY 2018-19. A similar capacity expansion was planned by other polyester manufacturers as well. Polyester prices have moved in a narrow range over the last few months following crude oil prices. Data compiled by the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI) showed $1.6 billion worth of man-made filaments and man-made staple fibre products imported into India during the financial year 2017-18.
Foundation for USTER® Statistics - The USTER® GGP sparked a new interest in evenness testing by spinners, and led to requests for further quality management tools. The response was the publication in 1957 of USTER® STANDARDS, the precursor of USTER® STATISTICS. This listed unevenness data as U% and CV figures for carded and combed yarns, from GGP® test results collated worldwide. For the first time, spinners were able to benchmark their yarn quality against that of other mills, using objective measurements.
