The unit is also required to fill the DPR field as per the Format enclosed at the time UID application and the Lending Agency has to digitally sign it, it said. The Ministry circular said that the modifications are being carried out in iTUFS software accordingly and it will be implemented with effect from August 30, 2018.The beneficiary units and Lending agencies have been asked to make necessary arrangements so that they could apply with digital signatures, on or before August 30, 2018.

Maharashtra helping spinning mills and textile units set up solar power plants

An official said the subsidy will be reviewed every year to reduce the overall burden. “One of the major reasons why spinning mills incur losses is the higher power tariffs in Maharashtra compared to other states. So we want to encourage spinning mills to set up solar power plants. It will reduce the power bills,” the official said.

The apex body of textile mills in the South, Southern India Mills’ Association has appealed to the Union Government to release additional funds of Rs. 5,500 crore for the Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme to clear the dues (subsidy amount) that need to be paid to the textile units under the scheme.

Hundreds of textile units in the country would be shut down if the Technology Upgradation Fund (TUF) subsidy is not released on time, said SIMA.

The textile units have been facing difficulty in complying with zero liquid discharge (ZID) norm as it is mandatory for all the registered units to go in for effluent treatment plants with ZID system as stipulated by the Madras High Court. Some of them that release untreated effluent come under adverse notice at periodic intervals.

As 90 percent water is recovered through reverse osmosis system, solar-evaporation treatment of the remaining 10 percent with high concentration of effluent turns costly.

The Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO) had allotted land at Chitroli in Bagru to the 173 textile units that were found infeasible to connect with the common effluent treatment plant (CETP). They claim that all units including these 173, operating in Sanganer can be linked with the proposed CETP. The deadline for applying for the plots at Chitroli was October 15. But no unit owner applied for it.
