The 19th China Yiwu International Trade Fair for Textile and Garment Industry (YiwuTex 2018) grandly opens at Yiwu International Expo Centre, Zhejiang, China today. The 3-day show gathers more than 280 exhibitors in an area of over 14,500sqm, showcasing innovative and diverse textile machinery and technologies. ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions signs up a deal to build a PET polymer and staple fibre production plant in Ivanovo, Russia which is supposed to have an annual production capacity of up to 200,000 tons of polyester polymer.

ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solution’s role in the project will include engineering, procurement and supervision of the erection and commissioning of the plant.

The Germany-based multinational firm is working with the Russian company Polyester Plant Ivanovo which is involved in worldwide polyester staple production.

Turkmenistan plans to streamline its textile industry to increase the manufacturing of competitive products and attract investment in this industry as it holds an important place in its economic system, the country’s President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov said.

Turkmenistan traditionally grows cotton, which serves as a basis for developing the textile industry. The annual turnover of the textile industry is about $400 million as of 2014.

During the last meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, the issues related to the development of the textile industry were discussed.

Vietnam textile and garment sector aims at total exports of $28bn in 2015

Vietnam textile and garment sector having witnessed good growth in exports in 2014 up by nearly 16 percent reaching $24.5 billion is now aiming at total exports of US$ 28 billion to $28.5 billion in 2015.

The textile and garment sector is expected to benefit from several free trade agreements (FTAs) that are likely to take effect. Owing to advantages accruing from the FTAs, the textile industry could double the size of production in ten years. However, textile enterprises need to be well prepared for the same.
