H&M, Kappahl and Peak Performance collaborate with SFA for STICA - Initiated by Kappahl, H&M, Peak Performance and Sustainable Fashion Academy, the purpose of STICA is to support the Swedish fashion and textile industry in its efforts to reduce its climate impact and stimulate industry innovation. To achieve this, STICA is creating a platform for knowledge sharing, collaboration and reporting so that the Sweden's fashion and textile industry can lead the way and be climate-positive well before 2050.
The international collaborative research, which includes experts from the Centre for Graphene Science at the University of Exeter, the Universities of Aveiro and Lisbon in Portugal, and CenTexBel in Belgium, is published in the scientific journal Flexible Electronics.
The new research instead integrates the electronic devices into the fabric of the material, by coating electronic fibres with light-weight, durable components that will allow images to be shown directly on the fabric.
Speaking before the show, Uludağ Textile Exporters Association Chair Pınar Taşdelen Engin said, "I'm so excited and happy tonight because this is the first time we are holding such an event. Coloreel launched its first thread colouring unit at the Avantex Paris fair, which focuses on innovations for the textiles and fashion industry, in September. The market response is very strong, and the company says it has a large number of business inquiries from well-known companies ranging from the sports and lifestyle segments to exclusive fashion and haute couture. The first thread colouring units will be delivered to the first customers early 2019.
