The unit is also required to fill the DPR field as per the Format enclosed at the time UID application and the Lending Agency has to digitally sign it, it said. The Ministry circular said that the modifications are being carried out in iTUFS software accordingly and it will be implemented with effect from August 30, 2018.The beneficiary units and Lending agencies have been asked to make necessary arrangements so that they could apply with digital signatures, on or before August 30, 2018.

The made-ups segment which is the second largest employment generator after apparels in the entire textile value chain will get additional 10 percent capital investment subsidy of up to Rs 20 crore under the Amended Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme.

According to the notification from the Textiles Ministry "Every eligible made-ups unit which has availed 15 percent benefit under ATUFS will be paid an additional 10 percent capital investment subsidy on their investment up to an additional maximum cap of Rs 20 crore".

The Union budget 2016 for the textile industry brings diverse reaction from the textile sector. According to Tirupur Exporters’ Association, president A. Sakthivel, the budget have brought cheer to textile manufacturers in the State as funds have been allocated for Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme and basic customs duty has been exempted for import of specified fabrics (for manufacture of garments for exports) of value equivalent to one percent of FOB value of exports in the preceding financial year, which will give a boost to garment manufacturers in the State.

The Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme (TUFS) was introduced to make available funds to the textile industry for upgrading technology at existing units as well as to set up new units with state-of-the-art facilities. The government is now planning to tweak the Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme (TUFS) in the textile sector and may end interest subsidy provided to mills against investments made by them, as it intends to rationalise various dole-out-based schemes.

Southern India Mills' Association (SIMA), apex body of spinners in this region, has convened a meeting of its member mills here on August eight to discuss various problems faced by spinning sector and decide on future course of action to mitigate the crisis.

Textiles Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar in his written reply to Lok Sabha mentioned that the export of textiles for the current financial year (2015-16) targeting a growth of 14 percent has been fixed at USD 47.5 billion from actual exports of USD 41.6 billion in 2014-15, parliament was told on Thursday.

He also said that the government is encouraging exports through Merchandise Exports from India Scheme (MEIS), which has recently been modified to include the markets of Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
