Vietnam is showing interest in increasing their bilateral trade and economic relation with Pakistan. Vietnam sees huge potential for export of textiles, leather and other products from Pakistan. Head of trade mission of Vietnam, Vu Viet Dzung during his meeting with chief executive of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) S M Muneer, has expressed the desire for enhancing trade volume between the two countries.

Auro Textiles and Mahavir Spinning Mills, both subsidiaries of Vardhman Textiles, who had proposed for setting up two major units in Himachal Pradesh has received approval. The green signal was given by the single window clearance and monitoring authority at its meeting which was presided over by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh. Auro Textiles has proposed to invest Rs.22,858 lakh with employment potential of 392 people, while Mahavir Spining Mills proposed to invest Rs.33,028 lakh with employment potential of 860 people.

Pakistan textile exports which presently stand at $13 billion likely to see a boost with the implementation of textile policy. The textile policy is likely to be announced in the second week of July. Subsequent to the implementation of textile policy the people will see rapid growth in textile sector of the country and there will be an increase of at least $1 billion in the first year and $2 billion from the second year.

Non-traditional exports from Peru are expected to post a 15 percent growth in 2014 from last year, mainly driven by shipments of agricultural products, clothing exports, and other value-added products. This trend of exports will help Peru find new niches in the modern economy, according to the country’s Foreign Trade Society (ComexPeru) In its latest report released, Comex found the non-traditional sectors which showed the highest pick up in the overall exports this year are agriculture, textile and clothing activities.

Bangladeshi textile and garment makers entitled to take EDF loan up to $15 million

The Bangladeshi textile and garment makers were entitled to receive Export Development Funds (EDF) loans upto $12 million at 2.5 percent interest rate. But now, the central bank has increased the limit for manufacturers and exporters to borrow from the EDF to $15 million. Textile and garment makers will benefit from the central bank's move, said BTMA President Jahangir Alamin.

Cotton trading continue at slow pace, price reduced by Rs.50

With buyers reluctant to enter into big deals trading at Pakistan cotton market continued at slow pace. Only around 2,500 bales from new crop have so far been sold by ginners which were mostly lifted by Punjab spinners. Around seven to eight ginning units have started operating in Sindh and five in Punjab. However, all these ginneries are getting raw cotton supplies from lower Sindh where crop normally matures earlier than other cotton-growing belts of the country.

With the signing of new agreement Australian cotton produced under its myBMP certification, which is Australia’s best management practice certification system for the cotton industry can now be sold into the global market as BCI cotton. This agreement will recognize Australia’s leading role in the production and promotion of responsibly grown cotton.

Pakistan with around 163000 metric tonnes of cotton grown and processed with Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) is Textile industry is currently the leading producer of BCI cotton and is planning to further, undertake an initiative to broad-base the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) cotton production.
