Indian textile ministry decides to put all info related to TUF online

The Indian Textile Ministry has decided to put all information related to Textile Upgradation Fund (TUF) Scheme online. This will assist the beneficiaries to overcome any possible procedural hassles and also delay and confusion over the communication. The decision on TUF procedure to be made online as it was observed that of the 23 lakh powerlooms, only about 1.25 lakh looms have taken advantage of the TUF and other schemes.

The American Chamber of Commerce Bahrain (AmCham Bahrain), an independent, private, non-profit, non-political business association has taken up the initiative to enhance textile trade and business using the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the United States and the Kingdom of Bahrain. AmCham held a meeting with West Point Home (WPH), a leading textile manufacturer in the US and an active member of AmCham Bahrain. The meeting was attended by Mr. Billy Harris, Vice President International Manufacturing and Operations of WPH and Mr. Qays Hatim Zu'bi, President of AmCham Bahrain.

Thai textile likely to touch USD 7.6 billion this year

Thai textile and garment products likely see an increase by 3.66 percent to last year touching US$7.6 billion this year as per the Ministry of Industry official. According to Atchaka Sribunruang Brimble, director-general of Industrial Promotion Department at the ministry, there is a growing demand for sport outfits as more Thais are turning to physical exercise. At the same time, Thai companies have been assigned to manufacture soccer outfits for 10 teams participating in the 2014 FIFA World Cup tournament.

India outstrips Germany and Italy in textile exports

Indian textiles and handicrafts sector performance at the global level is remarkably well, in terms of export revenue turnarounds it has managed to overtake both Germany and Italy, said Union Textiles Secretary Zohra Chatterjee at the Craft Heritage exhibition that was launched at the Central Cottage Industries Corporation of India on Tuesday.
