The Pakistan Textile exports for the period July-March 2013-14 has show a 8 percent raise, while exports in all value added categories has increased considerably i.e. bed wear by 21 percent, hosiery by 10 percent and readymade garments by 9 percent. Increase in textile exports followed due to the disbursement of Rs.3.5 billion by the government for the textile sector in shape of drawbacks, export finance support and mark up support, according to one year performance report of the government.

During the previous year 2012-13 only Rs. 2 billion was provided by the Government.

Rug weavers from Afghanistan, a 15 member delegation met with with representatives from Amer Rugs and its parent company, Saraswati Global Private, Ltd., in May during a study tour to find out the viability of passing on Indian rug weaving techniques into the existing Afghan weaving framework.

Tamil Nadu, accounting for nearly 30 per cent of the country's handloom textiles production and 50 per cent of exports, has over six lakh handloom units and 1,400 cooperative societies. As part of Integrated Skill Development Programme, Tamil Nadu minister for Handloom Gokula Indira has announced that around 1600 persons in the state would be given training in weaving and skill development.

The first phase training programme to 40 weavers at the Intensive Handloom Project centre has been inaugurated.
