Shima Seiki Italia to exhibit newest selection of computerised flat knitting machines

Shima Seiki Italia, an Italian subsidiary of leading Japanese computerised knitting machine manufacturer Shima Seiki MFG, will hold a private exhibition to showcase the company's newest selection of computerised flat knitting machines at its Treviso office, Italy from 24-26 September.

This follows its successful showings at its headquarters and showroom in Segrate, Milan, this March, as well as its office in Carpi in June.

Demonstrations will also be performed on the company’s SDS-ONE APEX3 3D design system that is at the core of the company's Total Knitting System concept.

Textiles ministry proposes dilution in jute packing order, aiming for product diversification

The Union textiles ministry keeping in view the performance and production trends of sacking bags of the jute industry over the years has proposed to dilute the mandatory jute packaging order mandated under Jute Packaging Materials Act (JPMA), 1987.

The dilution moves is also aimed at gradually decreasing the dependence of jute mills on sacking and persuade them to go for product diversification.

Vietnam textile and garment export for August touches US$2.2bn

The textiles and garment sector is one of the largest industries in Vietnam and a top foreign currency earner. Its textile and garment export turnover has touched US$2.2 billion in August, an increase of 0.2 per cent from July.

But despite the high turnover the value added of the industry remained relatively low due to its reliance on imported raw materials, said General Secretary of Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association, Dang Phuong Dung.

The Russian government has recent taken up decision to impose a ban on the import of industrial equipment from Western countries. The decision was the Russian government’s response to recent sanctions, imposed on the country by the European Union and the United States, which has resulted in the ban on the import of a range of goods and products for various segments of Russian industrial production.

Also up to 90% of modern equipment for industry is currently imported from abroad, while local producers are still unable to compete with importers.

At present, foreign direct investment policy does not allow any FDI in Indian brands or retail but only in foreign brand/retail, which is owned and operated by an international company.

The ministry of textiles under the newly formed BJP government has a contrarian view on the allowing foreign direct investment (FDI) in multi brand retail. In its strategy report for the sector has recommended FDI in single and multi brand retail under automatic route, even though restricting its views only to Indian apparel brands.

Uzbeklegprom State JSC has planned a five year project from 2015-2020 to increase domestic processing of cotton fiber for which the company will direct about US$1 billion and decrease its exports in line with the concept of developing light industry in Uzbekistan, the head of the Uzbeklegprom main department Dilbar Makhmudova told on Sept. 5.

A development program concept for the next five year was developed by Uzbekyengilsanoat in cooperation with several ministries and departments.
