The Vibrant Gujarat Global summit, initiated by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, as former chief minister of Gujarat has evolved as a major global business and investment event. The 7th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit scheduled to be held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, from January 11 to 13, 2015, said a press statement issued by the Indian embassy.

Himatsingka Seide, a leading firm in home textile is working out plans to double turnover from its branded portfolio which consists of 10 brands, including Calvin Klein, Esprit, Barbara Barry and Bellora to Rs 1,200 crore by next fiscal.

Himatsingka Group Executive Director Shrikant Himatsingka in a BSE filing said that they are focused on expanding the strength of their branded portfolio and see several opportunities on the horizon that will help the group grow revenue streams.

A four person Chinese business delegation led by Kong Xiangjun, Board Chairman of Giangsu Lianfa Textile Company Limited has disclosed that it has finalized pre-investment assessment to build a huge textile factory in Addis Ababa with over 500 million USD.

On the occasion, Xiangjun told President Mulatu Teshome that his company has decided to invest in Ethiopia after making similar pre-investment assessments in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.

The textile industry would create more than 20,000 jobs when it goes operational.

Two Gujarati entrepreneurs , Jagat Shah, CEO of Cluster Network and Salil Patel, Director of Shree Patel Tradelink Pvt Ltd from Ahmedabad smelling a business opportunity have planned to take a 35-member delegation to attend an event proposed to be held in Jammu and Kashmir this month-end, for the first time, on the lines of Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors’ Summit.

Demand for denim fabric is high worldwide, as denim garments are comfortable and fashionable. To meet the growing global demand, local entrepreneurs of Bangladesh have started investing heavily in denim, as at least six new factories will come into operation this year.

Five to six other groups have already installed machinery to produce the fabric.

Kutubuddin Ahmed, chairman of Envoy Group stated that they will start producing an additional one million yards of denim fabric a month in the next three months. At present, it produces three million yards a month.

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Bhubaneswar to promote rich art and culture of the state has opened up a new department of fashion design which was inaugurated by the Union textiles secretary Sanjay Kumar Panda on Saturday.

The NIFT students, on this occasion organized an exhibition of designs.

The new infrastructure will help student work better. The students should work to boost the traditional art and craft of the state, said Panda at the inauguration ceremony.

Alibaba Group a privately owned Hangzhou based Chinese internet-based e-Commerce giant having business-to-business online web portals, online retail and payment service has recently tied up with five leading home textile producers in the country to offer "try-before-you-pay" options to online shoppers on its trading platform Tmall.com starting September.

Precot Meridian Ltd is a leading player in the textile industry manufacturing yarn and fabric. As part of its expansion plan would be investing an additional Rs 200 crore at its technical textile plant in the Hassan SEZ, which was set up in June 2013.

With promoter funding and a loan from ICICI Bank, the company is currently raising the required capex for the project. It will hire an additional 400 employees for the unit, Ashok Kulkarni, CEO and Director of Percot Meridian Limited said.
