Assam government plans to promote eri with product diversifications at the international expositions as Assam’s eri products exhibiting huge market potential among international buyers at the mega textile event Textile India 2017.

Being a partner State of the exhibition, Assam had 15 stalls in the textile event, where selected number of entrepreneurs exhibited their products. Assam sold products worth Rs 15.82 lakh and generated orders worth Rs 4.32 crore during the event held at Gandhinagar in Gujarat.

Under the Integrated Sericulture Development Project of North East Textile Promotion Schemes of Ministry of Textile, GoI a new Common Facility Centre has been constructed at Industrial Estate, Naharlagun which was inaugurated by Minister Textile and Handicrafts, Tapang Taloh on Tuesday.

The Common Facility Centre is under the Department of Textile & Handicrafts.

The recent two day elementary nonwoven training programme organized by INDA, the association of the nonwoven fabrics industry and coordinated by Tecnitex Nonwovens was held on 6-7 July at the Orchid Hotel, Mumbai, India. This was INDA’s 25th awareness workshop where industrialists expressed that the growing Indian technical textiles sector that includes nonwovens to a great extent needed value addition, product diversification and marketing support.

The Textile Ministry of Pakistan has called stakeholder for another meeting on Monday in order to have consultation with them on the textile policy. Ministry would be presenting the main points of their drafted policy to the members and members would have a chance to present their point of view on any given matter.

According to APTMA officials, the stakeholders are expected to discuss various issues relating to energy, product diversification, encouraging investment, trainings and improved factory floor management.

Pakistan has witnessed an increase of 20-25 percent in enquires and order from European countries in the last 11 months, said Multinational Export Bureau CEO Babar Khan who runs two textile factories in Karachi that export most of their knitwear to the EU and United States, is not the only one who has benefited from the duty concessions.

The Union textiles ministry keeping in view the performance and production trends of sacking bags of the jute industry over the years has proposed to dilute the mandatory jute packaging order mandated under Jute Packaging Materials Act (JPMA), 1987.

The dilution moves is also aimed at gradually decreasing the dependence of jute mills on sacking and persuade them to go for product diversification.
