Chinese firm Jiangsu Lianfa inks deal to build textile plant in Kenya

Kenyan Cabinet Secretary for Industrialisation and Enterprise Development Adan Mohammed and Jiangsu Lianfa Textile Company president Xiangjun Kong signed the deal on Thursday. According to Mohammed, the textile factory to be build by Jiangsu Lianfa Textile Company Limited, Chinese firm which will be one of the largest in the continent and likely to create more than 30,000 jobs.

India and Turkish trade relations have improved rapidly over the past decade. Trade volume between Turkey and India was $2.3 billion and $4 billion in 2009 and 2010, respectively. This figure reached $6 billion in 2013, according to the Indian Ministry of Trade and Commerce.

According to Ersin Karaoğlan, the president of the Turkish Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (TICCI), India has a large population with vast land and a huge market, all of which attract foreign investors to the country. India is a big player in the textile business and construction.

A Chinese delegation of four, comprising Dr Youfa, Commercial Counsellor Liu Guoyu and two Vice Consuls — Chong Li and Cong Lu on a tour in Coimbatore region, reaching out to industrialists to consider investing in China and identifying the competitive advantages of such investments , both sides.

The Consul-General of the People’s Republic of China, Liu Youfa, acknowledged that China is passing through the second round of industrial readjustment.

The process started three years back. It will take some more time to resettle the workers.
