A textile machinery symposium took place in the Iranian capital Teheran on April 21 & 22, 2015 organized by the German VDMA. This was the first German event of this type on Iranian soil in the last ten years.

The event was opened by Golnar Nasrollahi, general Manager of Textile & Garment Department, Regina Brückner, Chairwoman of the VDMA Association for Textile Machinery, and Michael von Ungern-Sternberg, German Embassador.

The symposium was very well attended with about 600 guests each day which showed clearly the interest in German textile machinery and their good reputation.

Pakistan textile exporters strongly opposing the proposed merger of textile ministry with commerce terming it a negative move which would hurt the pace of growth in textile exports and would push textile industry on back gear.

Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) leaders expressed concerns over the proposed merger of textile ministry into commerce ministry and said that Pakistan has dynamic, vigorous and export-oriented textile industry that has an overwhelming impact on national economy.

This was informed by the Alliance of Businessmen and Industrialists of Tanzania and Turkey (ABITAT). The ABITAT is also an official representative of the Confederation of Businessmen and Industrialists of Turkiye (TUSKON) here in the Tanzania. Globally, depreciation of the euro and the crisis in the eurozone, as well as plummet in international cotton prices has adversely affected export of home textiles and finished fabrics put a majority of home textile producers from Faisalabad in trouble. This is the second time in seven years that home textiles manufacturers from Faisalabad are in the midst of a crisis.

As overseas shipments of most home textiles has continued to slump over the last one year, a majority of home textiles producers are compelled to significantly cut their production and some to shut their shop.
