Nagpur-based designer Shruti Sancheti who built her label by resolutely working to revive traditional Indian weaves—without sacrificing sexiness for sustainability, at the forthcoming Lakme Fashion Week starting Aug 20 will unveil her collection titled Strands of Silk.
 
The designer will pay an ode to the glorious and sumptuous fibre Silk by showing festive colour palette splashed with warm shades like crimson, vermilion, cherry, carmine, wine, aubergine, burnt orange, saffron, alphanso, fuschia, and indigo blue on Textile Day at the four-day gala.

Jute mills practicing unfair trade to be banned from government quota

Some jute mills, including a majority of them belonging to Indian Jute Mills Association (Ijma), have been found illegally importing jute bags from Bangladesh and Nepal at a cheaper price to sell it at higher prices to the state-owned food procuring agencies for profiteering.
The Jute Commissioner has warned the jute industry of a ban on their getting a government quota for five years, citing unfair trade practices by some mills.

The Jute Packaging Materials Act, 1987 provides for compulsory packaging of sugar and food grains in jute bags by government agencies up to 100 per cent.

New Textile Policy aims at achieving target of $300 bn in exports and double employment

The new National Textiles Policy draft submitted by an expert panel constituted by the government on Monday aims at achieving textile and garment exports growth of $300 billion by 2024-25 from around $39 billion in the last fiscal and also creating additional 35 million jobs by attracting investments.

Raymond's net sales had risen 25.4% to Rs 1096.09 crore in Q1 June 2014 over Q1 June 2013. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) rose 48% to Rs 63 crore in Q1 June 2014 over Q1 June 2013. EBITDA margins rose to 6% in Q1 June 2014 from 5% in Q1 June 2013.
