Gujarat show mammoth interest in TUFS with 90pc applications

Gujarat textile industry taking maximum benefit from the Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme (TUFS). In TUFS under 15 percent MMS, 90 percent of the application were received from Gujarat, stated Kiran Soni Gupta, IAS, Textile Commissioner at the meeting held at the Ahmedabad Textile Industries Research Association (ATIRA) between the Textile Commissioner and textile industry stakeholders on Tuesday.

Pakistan cotton market witnessed decline in prices

After price of commodity declined at the open markets in Pakistan, the Karachi Cotton Association (KCA) also revised its cotton spot (benchmark) rate by bringing it down to Rs6050 per maund a reduction of Rs100 per maund.
 
The KCA decreased its spot rate in line with the downward trend in the commodity price at the open markets in Pakistan. Thee price of the commodity has decreased by around Rs150 per maund to Rs6,150 per maund at the markets.
 

Turkmenistan plans to harvest 1.5 mn tons cotton this season

In Turkmenistan cotton is grown in 5 regions (velayats): Ahal, Mary, Lebap, Dashoguz and Balkan. The acreage under cotton crop is 545 000 ha that is harvested from the August through October. According to the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan, they plan to procure 1.5 million tons of raw cotton this season.
 
Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with the level of heads of regional administrations of the country to discuss the issue related to cotton harvest.
