The Lenzing Group has successfully commenced production using its latest generation of Tencel technology at its new Tencel jumbo production facility at the Lenzing site in Upper Austria.
 
The successful start-up of production operations is a technological milestone for Tencel, the fibre of the future, and for the entire Lenzing Group. They are buoyant on achieving the planned production target of 30,000 tons by the end of 2014.

Zambai-China Mulungushi Textiles run under a joint venture between Qingdao Textile and Zambia Ministry of Defence, but the partnership fell through forcing the company to close down in 2007 has found a Tanzanian investor who has expressed interest to revamp the Mulungushi Textiles in Kabwe.
 
The government wanting to lease the firm was looking for an independent investor who will operate it profitably on a large scale basis.
 

Cotton prices seen dropping at its lowest in nearly five year

Cotton farmers although favoured by Mother Nature, but it is not the same for the cotton market with cotton price dropping more than 20 percent just in the past few months. The price was around 85 cents per pound before Memorial Day. It's now as low as 64 cents.
 
Cotton is growing well across the country, which means supply is up, but a major buyer, China, has a lot of cotton in reserves, so demand is down. The reason of drop in cotton price is due to both supply and demand trend.
 

North Face all set to make its polyester clothes from 100% recycled content by 2016

The North Face, Inc. is an American outdoor product clothing manufacturer specializing in outerwear and equipment such as backpacks, tents, and sleeping bags has planned to manufacture all of its polyester fabric from 100 percent recycled content and set a goal to achieve it by 2016.

Currently, polyester makes up 80 percent of the material it uses in its apparel products. North Face uses manufacturers in USA and Asia to produce its products.

To reach its goal, it will primarily take used water bottles that are recycled into polyester for use in clothing.

Textile Minister introduces MIS to ensure transparency and serve as skill exchange for ISDS

The central management information system for Integrated Skills Development Scheme (ISDS) was launched on Wednesday by the Textiles Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar. The management information system (MIS) is developed with a view to monitor the progress of the ISDS scheme.
 
MIS will ensure transparency and also serve as skills exchange, enabling effective linkage between the industry who are potential employers and the training providers/trainees.

The Union cabinet on Wednesday approved amendments to three outmoded labour laws that is the Factories Act 1948, the Apprenticeship Act 1961 and Labour Laws which exempted from furnishing returns and maintaining of registers by certain establishments 1988, that acted as an obstacle to faster growth and hurt employee interests.
 
This is the first step and is perhaps the biggest reforms in nearly 44 years. It is a huge step and gives positive signal about the government’s intention to attract investment.
 

Labour shortage leads to increase processing cost of jute in Bangladesh

A long process is required to get jute fibre for marketing and the jute farmers are now engaged in the process. Processing of jute is going on in full swing despite acute labour shortage in Nilphamari district in Northern Bangladesh.
 
The labour shortage has lead to increase in the remuneration of a labour to Tk 400 per day as a result processing cost also gone up.
