Cotton Corporation of India plans to set up its first ginning and pressing factory with capacity of 60,000 bales at Adoni in Andhra Pradesh for which it will take 7.17 hectares of land on lease in one of the sick units of the National Textile Corporation in the newly-formed State to set up the ginning unit on a pilot basis.
 
The Corporation is also open to setting up similar units in Telangana, which is among the largest cotton growing regions in the South, if the newly-formed State Government offers land free of cost.

President of the China National Textile and Apparel Council Wang Tiankai, in opening remarks stated that the trade show shows that the Chinese textile industry and its US counterparts and trading partners can enjoy orderly and stabile free-trade environments and enhance communication, deepen mutual understanding.
 
The Chinese textile industry is a major contributor to the global economy and that the industry will continue to make efforts to extend their cooperation for the textile industries of the two countries.

Finance minister Arun Jaitley in the Budget had announced setting up of eight textile mega clusters that including one each in Surat and Kutch with an initial investment of Rs 200 crore. The upcoming mega textile cluster in Kutch to focus completely on handloom and handicrafts while Surat textile mega cluster will focus on powerlooms, said textile commission Kiran Soni Gupta during her one-day visit to the city.

Vietnam garment exports in June alone, achieved over 1.89 billion U.S. dollar, up by 22.4 percent against the previous month, posting the first time high since January 2014. With this the first half of 2014 has reached over 9.38 billion U.S. dollars up by 19.8 percent year-on-year, accounting for 13.2 percent of the national total export revenue during the period, when garment replaced phone and accessories to top Vietnam's export items in terms of revenue, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs latest statistics on Tuesday.

Tesoro Corporation plans to produce petrochemical feedstock in its U.S. West Coast refining system. The Company intends to pull together intermediate feedstock, primarily reformate, from its West Coast refining system for xylene extraction at Anacortes, Washington.
The initial investment will be to the tune of around $400 million, will recoup up to 15,000 barrels per day of mixed xylene. The mixed xylene will mainly be exported to Asia and is used to make polyester fibers and films for clothing, food packaging and beverage containers.

Agro Marketing Intelligence and Business Promotion Centre in Tamil Nadu Agricultural University conducted an analysis in Konganapuram Cooperative Marketing Society and also with cotton traders, to educate the farmers about the selling and sowing decision.

It revealed that farmers in Tamil Nadu have a stock of 0.25 lakh bales of 170 kgs each of cotton, since February, expecting higher prices, if export demand picked up.

On the outlook that China will start releasing its huge reserves of cotton fiber, and on forecasts of weakening demand for apparel in key markets around the world, there is have been a drop in spot cotton prices since the beginning of July.

The seven-market U.S. average spot price has declined by almost $0.06 in the first two weeks of July, 7 percent below its price at the end of June and $0.17 (20 percent) below the recent high it reached in early May.
