Iranian products exhibition held in Oman to boost trade relations between the two countries

Oman Expo in collaborating with the Iranian Embassy in the Sultanate has organized a five day Iranian products exhibition for trade exchange between the Sultanate and Iran and to provide SMEs owners with opportunities to expand their projects and strike new commercial deals. The exhibition is considered one of the specialized exhibitions.

Apparel, Made-Ups & Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council has got affiliated with the biggest institute of Apparel Trainings i.e. the Apparel Training and Design Centre, which has more than 170 centers across India and churns out more than 50000 students a year.

The mandate given to the Council includes creation of National Occupational Standards, Affiliating Training Providers in Apparel Trainings and assessing and certifying the trainees of such Institutes/Training Providers.

Pak-China Free Trade Agreement (PCFTA) has been in effect since 2006. The two countries Pakistan and China held talks on Monday to review the performance of the PCFTA and to put forward necessary changes required in the FTA which will be beneficial for the two countries. This was the third meeting of the second phase negotiations of the agreement.

During the PCFTA review, the Ministry of Commerce (MoC) expressed its concern over the insufficient utilization of the facilities provided under the PCFTA in which only few sectors have been able to take advantage of the favorable tariffs.

The Egyptian Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Adel El-Beltagy announced on Sunday that the state will not offer any form of subsidies for cotton farmers or spindles during the next season pointing out that long staple cotton cultivation is very expensive and there is no demand for it either domestically or internationally.

India is witnessing growing discord between online and offline retailers over heavy discounting. Pakistan firm awaits govt approval to start trading of imported carpets in India

A Pakistani based firm had approached the Indian government with a FDI proposal to carry out wholesale trading of imported finished carpets from Dubai and other countries in Indian market. The company proposes to invest over Rs 55 lakhs for the business.

According to sources, the foreign direct investment (FDI) proposal of the Pakistan based company was among one of the 31 FDI proposals considered in the FIPB meeting on December 16 last year and a decision regarding this was deferred in the absence of the security clearance by the Home Ministry.

Silk Fab exhibition-cum-sale 2015 kicked off to a great start at Novotel Hotel at Visakhapatnam on Saturday with more than 60 stalls exhibiting a wide variety of textiles from 41 agencies across 11 states, including four weavers who won national awards for design. The exhibition aims to bridge the gap between buyers and weavers by bringing the latter closer to the customers.

The exhibition-cum-sale of silk handloom fabrics is being jointly organised under the aegis of the Development Commissioner of Handlooms, Ministry of Textiles, and the National Handloom Development Corporation.
