The Mzannar family’s 300-year-old textile business survived Lebanon’s civil war by making uniforms for militiamen. But its business savvy was no match for years of economic malaise that followed and it has now shut its factory.

The head of Lebanon’s chamber of commerce chief said last year nearly 2,200 businesses had closed, warning that more would collapse. And while there is dispute over those numbers, Lebanese mostly agree the economy is in dire shape.

Pakistan and Turkey’s Free Trade Agreement (FTA) will be signed on August 14, for enhancing the bilateral trade between two countries. The seventh round of negotiations between the two countries on Free Trade Agreement (FTA) was milestone to reach the final agreement.

Secretary Ministry of Commerce Younas Dhaga led Pakistan’s delegation in negotiation on FTA between Pakistan and Turkey. Pakistan and Turkey discussed the specific sectors including textile sector during the negotiation, a senior official of Ministry of Commerce said.

A four-day powerloom textile mela has been conducted by the regional office of the Textile Commissioner (Guntur), a unit working under the Union Ministry of Textiles, in Tirupati. The Handloom expo was inaugurated by the district collector R Nanthagopal on Monday which has handloom weavers attached to 57 cooperative weavers societies from across the district and some from other district who have set up around 12 stalls to market their products during this festive season.
