Turkish company Kaya Group to start textile business in Georgia

Kaya Group, Turkish company involved in textile sector, is planning to start textile business in Georgia. For this purpose the management of the Turkish company Kaya met the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili on January 12.

The two sides discussed the investment project which is designed by the Kaya Group to produce textile production in Georgia and export it to EU markets.

Quaid-e-Azam Apparel Park of Pakistan, which will be the most modern project of its kind in South Asia, is being set up near motorway and will provide all necessary facilities to textile and garments sector under one-roof.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has called to review the progress on the project on Sunday. He said that the project would generate thousands of job opportunities and increase exports, leading to strengthening of national economy. The best facilities would be made available to investors and industrialists in this park.

NZ wool prices softened amid high seasonal supply and strong currency

Wool is New Zealand's 14th largest commodity export, worth an estimated $741 million in the year through November. Wool prices softened at the latest auction amid high seasonal supply from the 'main shear' shearing season from December to early February. Main shear typically accounts for about 60 percent of the annual crossbred wool clip. An increase in the New Zealand dollar since the last auction weighed on exporters, with the kiwi recently touching a 2 1/2 year high against the euro and close to its record.

The Iran Solo Exhibition held at the Oman International Exhibition Centre, ending on Saturday. Carpets of different range, designs, material and sizes was the main attraction of the show as visitors crowded the stall of Azimzadeh Carpets to see high-end, hand-made Tabriz carpets.

One of their star attractions was a big wool and silk carpet with intricate floral designs costing 90,000 rials which took them five years to weave.

According to Neeraj Jain, Joint Managing Director, Vardhman Textiles the third quarter results are not expected to be great and revenue could be in single digits or early double digits as compared to around 18 percented reported in Q2.

Bahrain's textile industry has got a temporary relief with the extension of a key clause under the 10-year-old US-Bahrain Free Trade Agreement (FTA) as the industry’s representative from Bahrain have succeeded to convince the US authorities that the date was incorrect since the programme was not initiated until August 2006, and therefore the 10-year programme should be set to expire on July 31, next year and not December 31 this year.
