Export of cotton textiles from the country to China rose over 68 per cent to hit $1.55 billion between April and February during the 2018-19 financial year, according to data available with the Cotton Textile Export Promotion Council.

India’s cotton textile exports to major consuming countries got a boost with the recent government move to reimburse all state and central levies on such shipments.

ITMA ASIA + CITME 2018, Asia’s foremost trade fair dedicated to textile machinery, is once again marked by a significant presence of German companies both in their number and in the quality of their technology. A recent two-day symposium in Tashkent, staged by the Swiss Textile Machinery Association (Swissmem), showcasing the technology and know-how of 14 leading textile machinery manufacturers from Switzerland. Uzbekistan is already a strong producer of raw cotton and yarns and it is now ready to take its textile manufacturing capabilities to the next stage, by investing in latest-technology for downstream processes of fabric manufacture, finishing and making-up.

Vietnam textile industry is still facing many problems in textile production, as fabric determines the cost and quality of finished garment products hence textiles still cannot meet garment requirements, said Vu Huy Dong, general director of Damsan JSC.

Vietnam has to import 65-70 percent of fabric every year, it exports two-thirds of yarn output. This means that Vietnam has yarn in excess but not enough fabric.

DBL Group, a ready-made garment and textile giant of Bangladesh, is stepping up on plans to establish a factory in Ethiopia that will provide around 4,000 jobs and be supported by long-time customer Hennes & Mauritz (H&M).

Fast fashion retailer H&M has committed to becoming a long-time buyer and supporting the factory with expert knowledge in sustainable textile production. The Mekele-based integrated knitting, dyeing and garment facility will be solely owned by DBL Group, with Swedish state-owned investment firm Swedfund investing US$15m through a loan for the facility.
