Teijin Frontier will begin selling the new Solotex material within the current fiscal year, targeting annual sales of 100,000 metres by the fiscal year ending in March 2020.The new Solotex material is said to achieve easy-care property, including washability and crease resistance, and other functions, such as water-repelling and antifouling properties, that cannot be associated with natural silk wool, can be easily added, thanks to Solotex’s form stability and cushioning.

Textile product innovations in the LEISUREE.FASHION sector have been extremely promising. At one of KARL MAYER’s 80th anniversary celebrations, an unusual, stretch fabric for shapewear brands was being produced on an MJ 52/1 S. This fabric is lighter and more feminine than normal fabrics, creates transparent and opaque effects and, with its relief-like, superimposed design, is reminiscent of lace. A dense fabric with a light, two-way-stretch ground produced by the jacquard bar and the stitch-forming ground bar at the rear was also being produced on the MJ 52/1 S.

To recommend duties, the DGAD in it’s probe would have to establish that dumping has caused material injury to domestic players. Anti-dumping duties are levied to provide a level playing field to the local industry by guarding against below-cost import. Imposition of anti-dumping duty is permissible under the World Trade Organization (WTO) regime. India and China both are members of the Geneva-based body. The duty is directed at ensuring fair trading practices and creating a level-playing field for domestic producers vis-a- vis foreign producers and exporters.

Sanjay Jain, chairman, CITI, said in a letter written to the government recently that, "However, the trend has been reversed constantly since then and India is losing business to nations like Vietnam, Indonesia, Pakistan and Cambodia, who enjoy duty-free access to the Chinese market." He educated that Indian products carry 3.5 per cent, 10 per cent and 14 per cent duty on yarn, fabric and made-ups, respectively.

EU imports one third apparel and textiles from China

The textile products, including yarn, fibre, fabric, and home textile, imported by the European Union countries from all over the world in 2017 increased by 3%, compared to the previous year, and amounted to EUR 18.3 billion. Over EUR 1 billion worth of textiles were imported from four countries. The share of these four countries in imports constituted 61.3%.

The FOSTTA office-bearers have stated that the production of man-made fabric has decreased from four crore meters per day to less than two crore meters, the sale of polyester fabric including sarees and dress material has decreased by almost 40% and that the export of finished fabrics has reduced by almost 28% in the last 10 months post-GST implementation, in a letter to Modi.

There was a meeting last week of all Surat power loom co-operatives and job workers involving hundreds and thousands of workers where they have proposed to reduce daily operating shifts from three to two. Many employees are also starting to go on leave. Reducing shift means fall in production. Abul Mansur Md Faizullah, chairman of Petrobangla, the state-owned gas and power supplying authority, said the government has imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) to meet the demand in the industrial sector. The government has also removed 122 percent tax on import of LNG, putting only 15 percent VAT in place for this imported gas, he said. He said the government has started giving gas connections to the industrial units. Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, energy adviser to the prime minister, said the government would launch a crackdown on Titas to cut corruption.
