Lycra states the benefits of new innovation centre

In May, the Lycra Company opened its brand new, state-of-the-art research & Development (R&D) lab in Nanhai, China. The Advanced Textile Innovation Center (ATIC) represents a significant increase in the firm’s global R&D capabilities and demonstrates its commitment to providing its services to its customers in Asia.

The lab will help mills, brands and retailers, as well as Western-based companies with local sourcing offices, accelerate the development of innovative garment solutions that meet apparel market needs and add value to customer’s products.

India, which is emerging as a global textile hub with huge potential, needs to develop man-made fibre to remain competitive in the global market and it aims to be a $350 billion industry by 2025, industry officials June 6 said.

"It is high time that the industry changes its approach to move into the second growth phase and aim for exports of around $100 billion from the current $40 billion," Textiles Secretary Ajit B Chavan said at the CII Texexcel 2019, the National Textiles 4.0 Summit here.

Paula Flannery will present a program titled “Spinning Cotton with a Charka and a Spinning Wheel” at the next meeting of the Humboldt Handweavers and Spinners Guild Thursday at 6:45 p.m. at the Wharfinger Building, 1 Marina Way in Eureka. The meeting is free and open to the public.

Flannery is a spinner, knitter and crocheter. She enjoys making dolls and blankets and spinning on her three spinning wheels. She raised sheep and wool for handspinning for over 40 years.

Encouraged by the government’s initiatives to help reduce the cost of energy for exporters, major Punjab-based textile groups on Friday announced that they plan to invest $1 billion in new value-added textile projects and capacity expansion for exports.

The group that plans to invest include leading textile manufacturers such as Sapphire, Suraj, Kamal, US Apparel, Interloop, Fazal Cloth Mills, Ejaz Group, Mahmood Textile, Ayesha Group, Bhanero Group, Kohinoor Mills and Sadaaqat Textile.
