Textile product innovations in the LEISUREE.FASHION sector have been extremely promising. At one of KARL MAYER’s 80th anniversary celebrations, an unusual, stretch fabric for shapewear brands was being produced on an MJ 52/1 S. This fabric is lighter and more feminine than normal fabrics, creates transparent and opaque effects and, with its relief-like, superimposed design, is reminiscent of lace. A dense fabric with a light, two-way-stretch ground produced by the jacquard bar and the stitch-forming ground bar at the rear was also being produced on the MJ 52/1 S.

A CEO whose company exports to seven other countries, and has almost 150 stores in Turkey, expressed that, “We had been informed that we would need a lot of extra documents for imports from China, so we demanded this meeting.” He added that, “The ministry didn’t ask us to stop producing in China. It was a fruitful meeting. We asked them to postpone the plan until at least January 2019, which the ministry will evaluate.”

The Federal Governments decision to promote the sale of locally made textiles is in line with the demands to boost production and capacity in the textile companies. The National Union of Textile Garment and Tailoring Workers of Nigeria (NUTGTWN) on Tuesday commended.

Recently, the Federal Government had directed all public workers to wear locally made fabrics (Ankara) to work twice a week. NUTGTWN believe that if workers patronise more of the local fabrics, it will revive the industries.

Factories will be able to pay wages and more workers will be employed.

India may face challenge of phasing out export subsidies soon

India may face the larger challenge of completely phasing out all export incentives with its per capita gross national income (GNI) set to cross $1,000 for three consecutive years, after which India may soon have to phase out its export subsidy regime in the current form as World Trade Organization (WTO) rules bar it from offering export incentives to any sector, including textiles, when it reaches certain thresholds that it is nearing. The deadline for ending direct subsidies to textile companies is December 2018.

Pakistan government to promote trade and export efforts are in the process to sign Free Trade Agreement – II with China and also to sign Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with ASEAN countries. Federal Minister for Commerce Khurram Dastgir said that China has promised to offer more facilities and market access to Pakistan’s products under the second phase of China-Pakistan Free Trade Agreement (CPFTA), which is under process to be signed between the two countries. Three rounds of dialogue have been held so far on the CPFTA.
