Chinese sportswear group Anta has announced that it has become a member of the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI). It said this decision was part of efforts to execute its “sustainable development philosophy”.

BCI is a Geneva-based organisation that works to promote greater sustainability in cotton production around the world. It is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2019.

The 19th China Yiwu International Trade Fair for Textile and Garment Industry (YiwuTex 2018) has successfully concluded on 19 May 2018 at the Yiwu International Expo Centre, Zhejiang, China. The one-stop sourcing and information fair is co-organised by Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd., Yiwu China Commodity City Exhibition Co., Ltd. and Jinhua Printing Industrial Association.

Therefore, industries in Vietnam like the textile and garment sector using intensive labor are advised to fully tap opportunities and overcome challenges brought by the revolution. A workshop was held by the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS) in Hanoi on July 13 yesterday to discuss smart production towards sustainable development for the textile and garment industry.

Kerala state government’s expert committee headed by P. Nandakumar, comprising, among others, M.P. Sukumaran Nair, chairman, Public Sector Restructuring and Internal Audit Board, has recommended one time fund infusion of Rs. 494.81 crore, Rs. 317.89 crore for capital investment, and Rs. 176.93 crore as working capital for revival of 17 mills in the State with a sustainable development and modernization strategy.

The textile and apparel industry of China is determined to fight back the trend by becoming more efficient, innovative and environmentally friendly, although textiles and apparel industry growth in sales and exports has slowed down from January to July by 1.5 percentage points and 1.2 percentage points, respectively.
