Traders urging to study the influence of GST on the textile sector

The FOSTTA office-bearers have stated that the production of man-made fabric has decreased from four crore meters per day to less than two crore meters, the sale of polyester fabric including sarees and dress material has decreased by almost 40% and that the export of finished fabrics has reduced by almost 28% in the last 10 months post-GST implementation, in a letter to Modi.

Flex can be recycled using multilayer PVC recycling machine and the association has approached the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation and the Mayor has assured to provide land for setting up the plant in the Corporation limit. But for setting up the plant, at least Rs 30 lakh is required to install the machines alone, apart from land and building cost, for which the association needs the help of the state government, said Chandramohan C, president of SPIA.

North Face all set to make its polyester clothes from 100% recycled content by 2016

The North Face, Inc. is an American outdoor product clothing manufacturer specializing in outerwear and equipment such as backpacks, tents, and sleeping bags has planned to manufacture all of its polyester fabric from 100 percent recycled content and set a goal to achieve it by 2016.

Currently, polyester makes up 80 percent of the material it uses in its apparel products. North Face uses manufacturers in USA and Asia to produce its products.

To reach its goal, it will primarily take used water bottles that are recycled into polyester for use in clothing.

Rising yarn prices suppress weavers from procuring it

Surat the country's biggest man-made fabric (MMF) sector has the highest consumption of yarn material as the entire MMF industry is depended on it for weaving polyester fabrics but the rising yarn prices are holding back weavers from purchased it.
 
The powerloom weavers in Surat have stopped the purchase of yarn material following the steep increase in the prices by the yarn spinners by almost 20-25 percent in the last few days following the rise in the crude oil price due to Iraq crisis.
