FPCCI to push trade will be participating in two India fairs this year

The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has announced that it will take part in two major trade fairs in India this year to push trade ties as a large number of exhibitors and visitors come from member countries of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (Saarc).

The first will be the Chandigarh Fair which will be organized by the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) from November 6 to 9, 2015 in Chandigarh.

Japan's biggest and most professional clothing and textiles fair, the 26th edition of AFF-Tokyo 2015 which gathers together the country’s largest selection of ready-made garments, accessories, home-textiles, fabrics and auxiliary material to be held from October 21-23 at Sunshine City Culture Center.

The AFF expo was founded in 2003, the show is held once every spring in Osaka and once every autumn in Tokyo. The event attracts 300-400 exhibitors from China, Japan, Korea and their factories in Burma, Bangladesh, India and Cambodia.

Tirupur exports of readymade garments has almost touched Rs 21,000 crore in 2014-15, witnessing 17 percent growth over last year. With Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) expected in September, exports from Tirupur, the knitwear hub is likely to grow by 20 to 50 percent in a few years, said an exporters' association functionary.

The new venture, Far East Spinning Industries Ltd, will be the first company that will completely manufacture compact yarn in Bangladesh. As the company will be setting up a compact cotton yarn manufacturing plant on 40 bighas of land in Habiganj in the next one and a half years which will involve investment of the tune of approximate Tk150 crore.

Far East Spinning Industries, whose paid-up capital stands at Tk 45 crore, is sourcing finance through a syndicated loan of around Tk 100 crore from IDLC Finance and The City Bank.

Indian textile and apparel exports to US have risen nearly 7 per cent during January-August 2014, according to the US Department of Commerce’s Office of Textiles and Apparel (OTEXA) data, compared with an average 2 per cent annual growth in the last five years.

The Centre’s ‘Make in India’ pitch seems to have already found resonance in the country’s textile and garment industry, with India’s exports to its largest single market, the US, headed for a record surge this year.
