Indian textile and apparel exports to US headed for a record surge this year

Indian textile and apparel exports to US have risen nearly 7 per cent during January-August 2014, according to the US Department of Commerce’s Office of Textiles and Apparel (OTEXA) data, compared with an average 2 per cent annual growth in the last five years.

The Centre’s ‘Make in India’ pitch seems to have already found resonance in the country’s textile and garment industry, with India’s exports to its largest single market, the US, headed for a record surge this year.

Camira Group, a Yorkshire textile manufacturer having achieved a record financial performance in 2013 on the back of sales to 69 countries. Its annual sales reach £60.1m last year; an increase of 9.3 per cent on 2012 now plans to create closer ties with some of the biggest US corporate.
 
The Camira Group celebrating its 40th anniversary has already been involved in a number of high-profile schemes, such as the Leeds First Direct Arena and MediaCityUK, the home of the BBC in the North of England.
 

Egyptian government raises cotton subsidy to encourage domestic industries and farmers

Egypt's economic ministers takes a move to encourage domestic industries to purchase Egyptian cotton as well as support local farmers by giving approval to raise the subsidy for spinning companies (Private and state-run) to purchase abundant Egyptian cotton to become LE350 per quintal instead of LE200 ahead of harvest season in September. This was announced the ministry of, industry, trade and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in a statement on Tuesday.
