Political changes after Brexit poll will by no means impact the United Kingdom-Pakistan trade relations and signing of free trade agreement (FTA) for enhancing bilateral trade is their priority, said Deputy High Commissioner of the Great Britain Belinda Lewis during a meeting with regional chairman and vice president Mian Rehman Aziz of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) on Saturday.

Mian Rehman Aziz, Regional Chairman and Vice President of the FPCCI during his meeting with Dr Joao Paulo Sabido Costa, Ambassador of Portugal to Pakistan at the FPCCI Regional Office Lahore on Wednesday said that Portugal comes at the eighth place among the top exporting destinations and at 12th place among the top importing member states of the European Union. GSP Plus status of Pakistan favours trade promotion with Portugal.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between business councils of Pakistan ans Sri Lanka on Thursday to accelerate bilateral trade and utilize benefits of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA). Pakistan being the second largest trading partner of Sri Lanka in South Asia there is a strong need for exchange of delegations to promote trade between the two countries.

Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industries is hosting the second session of Pakistan-Belarus Joint Business Council (JBC) at Karachi where a high profile Trade Delegation headed by Vitaly Vovk, Minister of Industry of the Republic of Belarus will be present.

The event is hosted today, on March 10, 2016 at a local hotel Karachi under the theme of Pak-Belarus Bilateral Trade and Economic Relations.
Pakistan side will be represented by Abdul Rauf Alam, President FPCCI, a statement said issued by the Federation here Wednesday.

Pakistan and Korea, having bilateral trade and diplomatic relations for over three decades, are very much ambitious to sign Free Trade Agreement (FTA) to enhance investment and trade volume.

However it will take years to attain the objective, as both the countries have to examine minutely the FTA proposal exchanged by them July this year. Pakistan’s Commerce Minister had visited Republic of Korea in July to discuss bilateral trade and possibilities of FTA.

The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has announced that it will take part in two major trade fairs in India this year to push trade ties as a large number of exhibitors and visitors come from member countries of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (Saarc).

The first will be the Chandigarh Fair which will be organized by the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) from November 6 to 9, 2015 in Chandigarh.
