Two mega handloom cluster to come up in Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh is one of the important states for the handloom industry to set up two mega handloom clusters each at Mangalagiri and Chirala in the state of Andhra Pradesh with an investment of Rs.1 billion to promote handloom sector and thereby help improve the livelihood of 2,00, 310 handloom weavers in cooperative fold and 1,58,902 other weavers, who have been constantly facing many problems.

India's clothing exports to the FTA countries having increased significantly after signing of the FTA/PTA (Preferential Trade) agreements. The apparel sector are now pushing for expeditious finalization of India-EU Free Trade Agreement, to enable better market access that is already enjoyed by Bangladesh, Vietnam and Cambodia. Indian exporters total outbound shipments stood at USD 15.7 billion last year.
 

67 new creations of embroidery on display at East Ruston Old Vicarage gardens

Around 67 embroidery creations inspired by beautiful blooms, wildlife and even wood piles, made by members of Norwich-based TOPstitch group, are on display and for sale at East Ruston Old Vicarage gardens.
 
All the 67 pieces are hand stitched by the 13 members, taking hours to make, and it is the first time the group has put its work up for sale since being set up two years ago.

Pakistan yarn export to China reduced to $80 million in February 2014 while in January it was about $200m. Although yarn manufacturing posted growth compared to the previous year, a gradual slowdown is visible in the second and third quarters of the fiscal year 2014.
 
Cotton yarn production has also started falling in the country, reflecting the slowing demand from China. Growth in cotton yarn production was just 0.9pc in the third quarter of the FY-14 while the growth was 3.2pc in the same quarter of last year.

Thailand to develop OTOP textile trade to compete international

The Department of Industrial Promotion (DIP) and the Thailand Textile Institute would be working together to develop One Tambon (meaning sub-district) One Product (OTOP) textile and costume production in order to get ready for a larger number of international exports in the future. OTOP is a local entrepreneurship stimulus program which aims to support the unique locally made and marketed products of each Thai tambon all over Thailand.
