Genesis tie-up G-star RAW for distribution and marketing deal for Indian market

India’s largest international luxury conglomerate Genesis Luxury has redefined fashion retailing with innovative strategies that transcend borders has tied up with Dutch clothing brand G-Star RAW, popular for its denim-wear for distribution and marketing deal for the Indian market.
 
Genesis plans to open 30 points of sale for G-Star in the next five years. G-Star, established in Amsterdam in 1989 has more than 6,500 points of sale across the world.
 

Six more textile clusters to come up in India

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley while presenting the Union Budget 2014-15 on Thursday said that the government would be setting up six more textile clusters to develop and preserve textiles in India.

The six textile clusters would be coming up in Rae Bareli, Lucknow, Surat, Kutch, Bhagalpur and in Tamil Nadu. For this purpose, the government has allocated Rs200 crore, Jaitley said while presenting the budget for 2014-15.

Pakistan textile machinery imports grows by 58pc in July-May 2013-14

Pakistan import of textile machinery grows by $200.714 million which is greater by 58 percent to $548.997 million in July-May 2013-14 as compared to the machinery import of $348.283 million in the same period last fiscal year.
 
The Pakistan textile industry imported new machinery to replace the dilapidated machinery to boost up production and not for business start ups. The manufactures have scrapped the existing overused machinery with new one.
 

Zimbabwe need to recapitalize its textile industry, required at least $200m

The Zimbabwean textile industry requires at least $200 million in the short to medium term to recapitalize, this was revealed by the Zimbabwe Economic Policy Analysis and Research Unit (Zeparu) based on the research study conducted on the Zimbabwean cotton and clothing industry. But, the biggest challenge for the Zimbabwe government with global competitive pressure is to find a way out to make the most of the cotton resource to industrialize in the context of a liberal market.
 

Cotton prices have taken a drop during starting months of the season in Pakistan

Pakistan cotton market which witnesses stability or increase in prices especially during the starting months of the season every year, sees the prices taking a drop by up to Rs600 to Rs6,000 this time. Further due to the cutback in lint consumption, prices came under pressure on Wednesday on the cotton market.
 
According to cotton broker, the prices of seed cotton (phutti) have also declined as the prices of cottonseed (Banola) have seen a drop of Rs150, to Rs1,800. The Karachi Cotton Association (KCA) reduced its spot rate by Rs100, to Rs6,100.

U.S. apparel imports witnessed drop in May compared to the same month last year, after surging 2.2% in April, total apparel imports (on a CIF basis) were $6.7 billion in May, a 2.4% drop from May 2013’s $6.8 billion. But in June, apparel imports are expected to have surged due to fears of an impending dockworker strike in California, so they expect to see a turnaround of this trend next month, according to data released by the U.S. Department of Commerce.

The Tamil Nadu government has decided to continue with free saris and dhotis distribution scheme during the 2015 Pongal season.
