Madhya Pradesh has emerged as a hub of the textile industry of the country in the last one decade due to the industrial friendly policy of the state government. Minister for Commerce,Industry, Employment, Mineral Resources and Overseas Indians Rajendra Shukla addressing the 14th international and 72nd All-India Textile Conference held in Bhopal said that a special policy is being brought soon to encourage garment industry in the state.

More than 300 representative of textile industry are taking part in the conference.

The Pakistan government has allocated about 100 MMCFD gas to the entire export-oriented industry but now the spinners are being facilitated only. The Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (Prgmea) Central Chairman Ijaz Khokhar as requested MoC to keep focus on apparel industry which can generate foreign exchange, contribute to local taxes and generate employment.

(PRGMEA has urged the govt to prioritize value-added textile industry in energy supply on the patron of Bangladesh, as the garment industry is presently without gas in Punjab.

Pakistan understanding the importance of garment and textile industry to its economic growth, and the employment it create for its people which reduces poverty for millions of workers. Pakistan and the Netherlands along with other international bodies have collaborated to uphold international standards and practices in textile and garment industry.

In this regard, the first buyers’ meeting was held in Pakistan on December 15-16 with the support of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
