One Million Liters initiative has been launched today as part of the opening of KingPins Show in Amsterdam, which is one of the most important global events in denim. DuPont Biomaterials and Lenzing are launching a fabric collection made predominantly of fibers derived from natural materials. The collaboration blends DuPont™ Sorona® fibers and TENCEL™ Lyocell and TENCEL™ Modal fibers from Lenzing, to give extremely soft garments greater resilience in stretch, recovery and dimensional stability. The new certified mill-collection will expand the future of sustainable textiles for designers to use in various applications, including active wear, ready-to-wear, intimate apparel and denim.

Pepsi will mark its foray into the fashion industry through a collaboration with homegrown ready-to-wear label HUEMN, launching at FDCI's upcoming Lotus India Fashion Week SS20.

The collection, created by designer duo Pranav Misra and Shyma Shetty, comprises statement athleisure. All denim fabric used in the collection is made using recycled plastic, in line with PepsiCo's 'Winning with Purpose' vision which aims to build a world where plastics never become waste.

Companies from various industries are taking responsibility for the waste they contribute to the environment.

Case in point: Diesel teamed up with Coca-Cola to launch a new collection made with recycled cotton and recycled plastic bottles.

The co-branded Diesel x Coca-Cola: The (Re)Collection offers men’s, women’s and unisex denim, sportswear and accessories made from the recycled fibers. The collection consists of 12 pieces, including a unisex denim jacket and jeans with workwear influences, and women’s high-waisted jean shorts with Coca-Cola red accent stitching.

Kontoor releases forest friendly sourcing policy

Denim group Kontoor Brands, owner of Wrangler and Lee, has published its first forest-derived materials (FDM) policy, which sets standards for the company’s purchasing and use of sustainable forest materials and products.

Until May, the group was part of VF Corp, which published its FDM policy in 2017.

Inditex starts closing the loop. Zara, the biggest chain of the Spanish giant by revenue, has launched its first line Denim from Denim, of garments created from the cotton extracted from other used jeans.

The company stated that they recycled old garments to subtract cotton and reuse it to create new items. It’s the first collection of the brand using denim waste.
