Russian textiles industry to get a boost

The Russian technical textiles industry may receive an additional impetus for growth this year, thanks to the recently announced government plans to ease the existing restrictions on global producers taking part in public tenders for the purchase of innovative textile products for state needs.

The textile trade between India and Russia currently stands at $161 million, but has the potential to reach more than $1 billion with a huge market of winter wears in Russia, said J K Dadu, additional secretary, Union ministry of textiles while speaking at a country session on the second day of Textiles India 2017.

With over 10 months of extreme cold climate in Russia, India can has the potential to cater to this weather through items such as leather jackets, caps, boots, pashmina shawls and various other woolens, which it can export.

First textile polyethylene terephthalate plant to be set up in Russia

Russia to set up its first polyethylene terephthalate complex producing textile in the town of Vichug located in the Ivanov region. A total amount of investments in the project amounts to approximately 25 billion rubles ($419 million).

At present, preparatory procedures are underway, while construction of the complex itself is planned to start in summer.

Pavel Konkov, Governor of the Ivanov region said that the modern integrated plant will be capable to release almost 200,000 tons of synthetic fiber and yarn per year,

ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions signs up a deal to build a PET polymer and staple fibre production plant in Ivanovo, Russia which is supposed to have an annual production capacity of up to 200,000 tons of polyester polymer.

ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solution’s role in the project will include engineering, procurement and supervision of the erection and commissioning of the plant.

The Germany-based multinational firm is working with the Russian company Polyester Plant Ivanovo which is involved in worldwide polyester staple production.

Russia and Turkmenistan discussed possibilities of selling Turkmenistan’s textile and cotton products on the Russian market during a meeting at the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The Russian side was represented by Alexander Rybakov, vice president of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The delegation of Turkmenistan included Berdymurad Redzhepov, Turkmen’s ambassador to Russia as well as representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers and the Ministry of Textile Industry. The meeting was also attended by heads of various textile enterprises from the two countries

The final negotiation accord towards a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) was signed between Vietnam and the Custom Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan on Monday announcing the conclusion of the negotiation . Vietnam Prime Minister, Nguyen Tan Dung witnessed the signing of joint declaration.

The custom Union will give Vietnam preferential tariffs and create favorable conditions to introduce into their markets agricultural, aquatic, wood, footwear, garment and textiles of the Indochinese country.

A delegation of Tamil Nadu based textile entrepreneurs, led by Prabhu Damodaran, secretary of Texpreneurs Forum during their meeting with the Union Minister of State for Textiles S.K. Gangwar on Wednesday expressed the need to diversify the exports from United States and European Union market to sustain competitive in the apparel production sector.

The delegation also drew attention on the need for policy alterations to help expand exports of textile products to emerging market.

Russia to develop a new $300 mn complex for the production of man-made fibres in the Ivanovo region

In Russian, at present the situation in the man-made fibre industry remains complex, this is reflected by the fact that, despite numerous investment projects, which have been declared in Russia in recent years, up to 70% of domestic needs in man-made fibres is met by imports.

The Russian Union of Chemists has inked an agreement with the Russian Union of Entrepreneurs of Textile and Light Industry (Soyuzlegprom) on the design of measures for the support and increased productivity of the country’s man-made fibres industry.
