China's garment industry saw revenue expansion and dropping profits in the first seven months of the year, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

In the January-July period, the combined operating revenue of major garment enterprises each with an annual operating revenue of 20 million yuan (about 2.8 million U.S. dollars) rose 2.15 percent year on year to 896.2 billion yuan, MIIT data showed.

However, profits of those enterprises shrank 3.48 percent to 46.1 billion yuan compared with a year ago during the period, said the MIIT.

Bangladesh earns 4 billions USD from July exports

Bangladesh's exports in the first month of the current 2019-20 fiscal year ending next June surged 8.55 percent to nearly 4 billion U.S. dollars, an official said Tuesday.

The Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) official told that export performance for July was 3.88 billion U.S. dollars.

Of the total earnings, he said the country's income from ready-made garment items, including knitwear and woven, stood at 3.31 billion U.S. dollars.

Apparel prices fall 1.61% in 4 years

Prices of garment items exported from Bangladesh dipped by 1.61 percent over the last four years, a reflection of the pressure international clothing retailers and brands always put on the garment manufacturers for lowering prices.

If the period between fiscal 2015-16 and 2018-19 are taken into consideration, price per unit of garment items increased only last year by 1.42 percent, according to data from Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA).
