Ministry of Textiles assigns NITRA for Common Effluent Treatment Plant project

Union Textile Minister, Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani, joined the foundation stone laying ceremony for the Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) designed by NITRA at Ajrakhpur, Bhuj (Gujarat) on 18th March 2017.

The 150 KLD CETP project has been assigned to NITRA for implementation by Ministry of Textiles through Handicrafts Mega Cluster Mission (HMCM). NITRA designed a modern treatment scheme integrated with water reclamation for the CETP.

Surat , the country’s largest man-mad fabric (MMF) and the Ministry of Textiles is seriously mulling of providing a Centre of Excellence and supporting the proposal for establishing a mega textile park at Pinjrat, Ajay Tamta, the Minister of state for textiles said at SITEX on Saturday.

Ajay Tamta said that the Ministry of Textiles is working positively on the proposals submitted by Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) on establishing a 'centre of excellence' and a mega textile park at Pinjrat near Olpad.

As on date, there is no single point of contact where weavers can seek solutions for their technical issues/problems. The Ministry of Textiles has decided to establish a 'Bunkar Mitra-Handloom Helpline Centre' where professional queries of weavers will be answered by the experts in the field.

Currently there are 28 Weavers' Service Centres (WSCs) functioning across the country to provide technical assistance to handloom weavers in improving their skills. But for seeking assistance, weavers have to personally visit the WSCs. The helpline centre will help to overcome these problems.
