The Prime Minister had announced that an Apparel and Garment Making Centre shall be constructed in all North Eastern states. Work on such a Centre is taking shape. Today, Minister of State for Textiles (I/C), Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar, laid the foundation stone for an Apparel & Garment Making Centre at Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh in the presence of Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Kiren Rijiju and Minister of Textile & Handicrafts of Arunachal Pradesh, Shri Tapang Taloh.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at the opening of the ninth Expo Pakistan in Karachi said that this was the best time for foreign investors to invest in Pakistan, as the economic environment is improving quickly and expressed confidence that the prevailing energy crisis will be resolved in three years time.

He assured in three years time there will be ample electricity available to industrial and household owners. Their goal is not only to provide electricity but also to lower the cost of its production.

Taking an initiative, the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on the demand of All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) vowed to resolve the gas crisis without realizing the ground realities because gas is reportedly not available for the industrial sector.

The Pakistan government on Tuesday once again failed to develop a strategy to provide uninterrupted gas supply to the textile sector to end the miseries of the industrialists.

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday directed the Textiles and Jute Ministry officials to take necessary steps to reclaim the jute mills and industries from private entrepreneurs who have failed to resume their operation as they had promised. These mills and factories had been sold or privatized during 2009-2013.

She also said that no state-owned industry will be leased out or sold from now on. The directives came following recommendations made by a high powered committee of the Prime Minister's Office (PMO)
