IL&FS Cluster Development Initiative Ltd (IL&FS Clusters) is a subsidiary of IL&FS Group, has been established for developing solutions for textile and apparel SMEs is planning to launch "Enterprise Development Services (EDS)", an online platform for bringing multiple SMEs together and link them with financing agencies, financial advisors, technology & marketing consultants, tax & legal advisors, etc.

Tirupur Exporters' Association on Tuesday thanking Finance Minister Arun Jaitley for presenting a ‘pragmatic budget’ giving more emphasis and focus to development of rural and agriculture also urged Jaitley to include additional specialty fabrics under customs duty free import.

As the potential to increase the readymade garment (RMG) exports lay on export of synthetic garments which has market throughout the year globally, the additional inclusion of more specialty fabrics will be helpful to enhance the growth and competitiveness.

Union Minister of State for Textiles Santosh Kumar Gangwar during his meeting with exporters organized by Tirupur Exporters Association (TEA) on Saturday said that for revitalizing the Indian textile industry, the Vision, Strategy and Action Plan would be released before the Union Budget.

The Tamil Nadu State would be soon announcing a new textile policy, making the already successful textile industry a top destination for investment, industry experts said at a seminar at the Global Investors Meet (GIM) on Thursday.

Tirupur knitwear exports is which currently having all-India market share of 44.29 percent with outbound shipments grown to Rs20,730 crore in 2014-15, is poised to reach the target of Rs36,000 crore by 2016-17 once the industry starts exporting synthetic-based garments, which have a market throughout the year globally, said President A Shaktivel of Tirupur Exporters Association at its 25th Annual General Meeting.

A Sakthivel, President of Tirupur Exporters Association (TEA) announced that the Apparel, Made-Ups and Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council (AMHSSC) launched jointed by the Ministry of Textiles, National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and the Apparel Export Promotion Council has become fully operational.

It is crucial to determine the quality of training to ensure success of the skill development programme. Skill assessment therefore has become an essential part of skill development,” Sakthivel said.

Tirupur knitwear exports in the first six month of the ongoing fiscal year 2014-14 has registered revenue of Rs. 10,050 crores, a growth of 16 percent as against Rs. 8,650 crores in the corresponding period of last year. In Dollar terms, the growth is 13.35 per cent year-on-year during April-September 2014, said Tirupur Exporters Association (TEA) president A Sakthivel.

Exporters from this tiny town, the hub for knitwear exports are hoping to close the fiscal with an export turnover of Rs 21,000 crore.

The Tirupur Exporters' Association (TEA) at an Exporters' Meet held at Tirupur, Panda made an appeal to take up the issue of 24 X 7 customs clearance at the ports, a proposal announced by the Finanace Minister Arun Jaitley in the budget, to expedite the movement of garments.

Union textile secretary, Sanjay Kumar Panda in response to the appeal made has assured the knitwear garment exporters to take up various issues either confronting them or pending for implementation with the concerned ministries and try to resolve them.

Union Minister of State for Textiles Santhosh Kumar Gangwar on Sunday at the 25th year celebrations of the Tirupur Exporters’ Association announced that the Government is planning to announce 25 more textile parks shortly to provide high quality infrastructure for the textiles and clothing sector.

These 25 projects are to be from the 49 proposals received now before the Ministry, seeking approvals for setting up the textile parks. The applications are being examined.

A meeting of textile ministers of all states would be convened in September end to fine tune the draft textile policy, so that the Union government can soon come out with a national textile policy, Minister of State for Textiles Santosh Kumar Gangwar said at the inauguration of the silver jubilee celebrations of Tirupur Exporters’ Association (TEA) in Tirupur.

A textile venture capital fund would be set up with an initial capital of Rs. 35 crore, which would be scaled up further, the MoS said.
