Tajikistan to support textile and clothing industry

Tajikistan is also successfully executing the International Trade Center (ITC) program, targeted at supporting the development of the textile and clothing industry and improving the quality management infrastructure. A complete production cycle was organized, including the production of raw materials, spinning, fabric manufacturing, and the manufacture of garments and carpets, in the middle of the last century. The main products are fabrics and garments made from them, denim pants, shorts, textiles, carpet and leather products.

According to the University, the technology is scalable at mass-production levels via a process known as fibre-spinning and is currently produced in Melbourne, Florida, with CREOL’s collaborators at Hills. The CREOL team is currently working with Hills to further reduce the diameter of the threads to produce fabrics for wide-scale market adoption. Finally, the patent-pending fabric is said to have the skill to be used across a large range of applications from clothing and accessories to furniture and fixed installations in housing and business décor.

Professor and head of department, textile technology, PSG College of Technology, G. Thilagavathi said there were a few units in the country that did three-dimensional fibre weaving. The number is few as functionalities in three-dimensional weaving using these fibres are different and the units need to have the requisite technology and machinery for the purpose.
