Can the home textiles industry ever shake off vinyl bags? An expert in packaging innovations will address the latest developments at HTT’s Material Changes conference on Nov. 13 in New York.

Sandra Krasovec brings more than 25 years of experience in brand and packaging design as the design director of a Chicago-based design firm and then as principal of her own business. The professor and coordinator of the Packaging Design BFA program at FIT has been instrumental in creating
a network between students, alumni, brand design firms and the packaging design industry.

Finisterre has become the first fashion brand to introduce their products in garment bags made from Aquapak polymer. Their new packaging will begin to enter the supply chain with select knitwear lines this October, before a full roll out in February, where the packaging will be included with all garments in their spring 2020 collection.

Lidl has said that it has become the first supermarket in the UK to introduce reusable fruit and vegetable bags across all stores nationwide to help reduce plastic waste in the long term.

A Lidl spokesman told Bio Market Insights that the bags were made from durable polyester and were designed to be “machine-washable and long lasting”.

The bags, priced at 69p for two, aim to provide customers with a reusable alternative to single-use, small fruit and vegetable bags.
