Maharashtra government to open up new market opportunities with higher remuneration for cotton farmers has worked out an integrated model of textile and agro industries in Vidarbha and Marathwada, said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday performing the bhoomipujan for the units of J K Investors Ltd and Raymond Group of Companies at Nandgaon Peth in Amravati.

Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has announced in the Assembly that State would grant Rs. 2.5 crore to provide infrastructure to those entrepreneurs who are interested to collectively come forward to set up micro textile units in textile centres.

This is to facilitate provision of electricity, water, construction of teleconference facility, marketing centres and common amenities in the micro textile parks set up out of the towns.

The West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday announced that in a bid to facilitate business in the state, the government has made an ambitious plan to attract around ₹37,000 crore in the State through 10 textiles clusters or parks.

The proposed projects planned which includes setting up of parks to fetch a total estimated investment of more than ₹37,000 crore to boost the textile sector and these will also provide employment to 6 lakh people.

Paschimbanga Chief Minister Mamata Bannerjee during her recent visit to Dhaka observed that Bangladesh and Paschimbanga are the gateway to South Asia and there are enormous economic potential in areas that remains unexplored as yet. Gujarat government to further develop skills in the textile industry, another important industry in Surat after diamonds, is planning to set up a textile university in Surat which would help boost its textile sector.

Gujarat chief minister Anandiben Patel on Sunday at the foundation stone-laying ceremony of 2,000-acres Diamond Research and Mercantile (DREAM) City here announced the setting up a textiles university at the proposed smart city- DREAM City near Surat.

She asked textiles players to seek land in the proposed DREAM-city on the outskirts of the Surat city.
