Nepal working to reoperate the Biratnagar jute mill

The Ministry of Industry (MoI) has made demand of Rs 250 million to the Ministry of Finance for the operation of the Biratnagar jute mills which has remained shut for about 20 years. MoI is also doing the necessary preparatory works to re operate the shut jute mill.

The jute mill had taken around Rs 1 billion and 5.5 million loan, is yet to be paid back with its interest.

With the revival of the jute mill, it will meet nearly 75 percent of the domestic demand for jute. The Jute mill will also provide directly or indirectly employment to around 15 thousand people.

A delegation of Chinese Textile Company, Zhejiang Daoqin Textile Co Ltd has expressed interest in setting up of a textile industry in the Sitarganj Pase-II industrial estate in Uttarakhand state for which it would be making investment to the tune of Rs600 crore. In this connection, the delegation of Chinese textile company met Chief Minister Harish Rawat.

Zang Chain, Charlee Yang and Lee Guambri from M/S Zhejiang Daoqin, Textile Co Ltd along with Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Shatrughan Singh, SIDCUL managing director R Rajesh Kumar and other senior officials attended the meeting.

Bannari Amman Spinning Mills plan to set up new garment unit

Bannari Amman Spinning Mills, established in 1995 has a capacity of more than 140,000 spindles has received its board's approval for setting up a new Garment Unit in Palladam Hightech Weaving Park, Palladam in Tamil Nadu to produce knitted Garments under the business name ‘Accel Apparels’.

The expected project will involve investment to the tune of Rs 30 crore and it is expected to start production before the end of December 2015 and plans to run at full capacity between May 2016 and August 2016.

State government urged to speed up on approvals for textile parks

The state governments urged to speed up approvals in setting up of textile parks, till now 72 textile parks have been sanctioned under the Scheme for Integrated Textile Parks (SITP), which are expected to provide employment to 4.5 lakh people with an investment of Rs 30,000 crore. This was informed by the Textile Minister Gangwar while addressing the state textile minister’s conference.

He also pointed out that there are difficulties in getting environmental clearances in several states. Hence urge the state governments to show interest on this issue and expedite much-needed clearances.

The West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday announced that in a bid to facilitate business in the state, the government has made an ambitious plan to attract around ₹37,000 crore in the State through 10 textiles clusters or parks.

The proposed projects planned which includes setting up of parks to fetch a total estimated investment of more than ₹37,000 crore to boost the textile sector and these will also provide employment to 6 lakh people.

Foundation stone laid for apparel and garment making centre at Guwahati

The foundation stone for an Apparel and Garment Making Centre at Guwahati was laid by Tarun Gogoi, Chief Minister of Assam and Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Union Minister of State for Textiles on Tuesday. Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, Dr. S. K. Panda present at the occasion said that the garment making Centre will provide employment to the youths of Assam. The project will be completed in three months by M/s. NBCC; the total cost involved in the project will be to the tune of Rs. 18 crore which will be fully funded by Government of India.

Indonesia registered rise in import of fibre and fabrics in first qtr of 2015

The Southeast Asian nation of Indonesia in the first quarter (Jan to Mar) of 2015, imported US$ 330 million worth of man-made filaments registering a growth of 11.15 percent over imports of $296.9 million made during the corresponding period of 2014, according to the data from Statistics Indonesia.

While, knitted or crocheted fabrics imports increased by 7.31 percent to $327.4 million compared to imports of $305.1 million made during the same period last year, the data showed.
