The Telangana government to boost its textile sector is working on the new textile sector policy and has assured that the inputs will be taken into account from the other stakeholders before finalizing the draft of the policy. The high cost of finance has been a major barrier for growth of the textiles sector, in a bid to counter torpidity in exports due to stiff competition, the Union textile ministry is contemplating interest subvention of 3.5 percent on the working capital loan for garment companies

Rashmi Verma, secretary, Union textiles ministry said that in order to boost the textile sector, they have announced several incentives in the last few months. The major area of concern, however, remains high cost of production because of elevated interest rates on working capital.

Confirming the Government’s initiative to boost the textile sector, Textile Commissioner Kavita Gupta, said that the government is planning to revive textile parks currently remained un-operational. The government is committed to extend all possible supports to the textile sector to exploit the potential lies in both domestic and international markets. She also confirmed that investment won’t be hindrance to the plan.

Maharashtra state government has identified ten viable districts on the basis of cotton availability for the textile parks of which the state government has approved nine new textile parks throughout the state to boost the textile sector of this two are in Vidarbha, and the rest in Marathwada and Jalgaon district of north Maharashtra.

The West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday announced that in a bid to facilitate business in the state, the government has made an ambitious plan to attract around ₹37,000 crore in the State through 10 textiles clusters or parks.

The proposed projects planned which includes setting up of parks to fetch a total estimated investment of more than ₹37,000 crore to boost the textile sector and these will also provide employment to 6 lakh people.

SAE-A Spinning is a subsidiary of South Korean company Sae-A Trading Co., manufacturer of quality apparel launched operations of its new yarn spinning plant in the province of Cartago in Costa Rica with an initial investment of just over $35 million on Thursday.

The company’s CEO Woong-Ki Kim said that the new plant would create more opportunities for new and existing businesses here. The new Costa Rica plant employs 270 workers and produces cotton yarn for export, mainly to other countries in North and South America.
