China is the biggest importer of coir based products from India. During 2013-14, a total of 192,110 tones of coir products, valued at Rs 360.5 crore were shipped to China, a growth of 32 percent on value terms, according to Indian Coir Board.

India exported 537,040 tones of coir and coir based products, valued at Rs 1476 crore. In the previous financial year, total export was 429,501 tones valued at Rs 1116 crore, a rise by 25 percent was recorded in the volume of coir based products.

Government has appointed a committee of permanent secretaries to revive the growth of the textile industry in Zambian which is dwindling; it once had 250 local textile factories but today only 20 remain, as their goods are priced out of the market by cheaper clothes and textiles imported from China.

Many workers lost their jobs when production costs soared and the company couldn't compete with imports from Asia that were beginning to flood the market. With the revival of textile industry, it will see over 4,000 jobs created this year.

The new Sudanese ambassador in Dhaka Dr. Hassan Eisa El-Talib during a courstesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday evening urged the government of Bangladeshi to export jute, jute products and medicine to Sudan.

He also requested Bangladesh to open an embassy in Khartoum.

Ambassador Dr Hassan E El Talib also came up with the request when he met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence Ganobhaban in the evening. The Sudanese envoy urged the Prime Minister to encourage Bangladeshi investors to invest in his country in ship-breaking industry.
