No shortage of cotton yarn witnessed in domestic market during 2013-14

The textile industry is on growth track, as the year 2013-14 as turned up to be encouraging with no shortage of cotton yarn at any point of time during 2013-14 was seen in the domestic market, according to T Rajkumar, Chairman, Southern India Mills Association (SIMA).

India raises cotton export estimate by 27 percent to 11.4 mn bales

India, the world's second-biggest cotton producer with strong global demand flowing from buyers beyond China as increased its export estimate for the crop year ending September by 27 per cent on Wednesday.
 
The new estimate of 11.4 million bales is also higher than India's shipments last year and could further pressure New York cotton futures that hit their lowest in about one and half years on Tuesday. (1 Indian bale = 170 kg)

With mills and spinners taking interest in fresh deals little improvement was witnessed on Wednesday in the trading activity at the Pakistan cotton markets.
 
While there was no change seen in the official spot rate at Rs 6,300, the prices of seed cotton from Sindh was at Rs 3300 and Rs 3350, and in the Punjab rates jumped by Rs 100 to Rs 3400 and Rs 3350.

The Indian Cotton Advisory Board has marked cotton production on the higher side this year at 39 million bales compared to 36.5 million bales last year while the total demand for cotton this cotton year is pegged at 40.1 million bales compared to 38.4 million bales last year.

Due to improved quality of the seeds, India’s average cotton yield in 2013-14 has increased by nine percent to 565.36 kg per hectare (ha) despite the area under cotton dropped to 11.73 million ha compared to 11.98 million ha in 2012-13.

Vinatex will conduct its IPO on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange on July 22, offering 24.4 percent of the company, or 122 million stakes, at a starting price of 11,000 dong (52 U.S. cents) each.
