A Buyer Seller Meet Fabric, Garments & Made Ups (Exhibition Cum Sale) organized by Govt. of India, Ministry of Textiles, Regional Office of the Textile Commissioner, Navi Mumbai in association with Powerloom Service Centre, Nagpur was inaugurated on 16 October.

The meet will provide an opportunity to Powerloom Industry in the decentralised sector to market their fabric/products at regional and cluster level.

Pakistan textile exports touch $1.11bn in the month of August 2015

Pakistan textile exports registered an increase of 11.2 percent, a $1.11 billion in the month of August 2015 as compared to $998 million during the same period of 2014, as per data released by the Ministry of Textile Industry. According to data except cotton yarn all major textile items registered significant increase in the month of August with respect to quantity and value as well.

Pakistan’s textile exports after witnessing downward trend for last several months has seen double digit growth of 11.24 percent in August 2015 as per data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) released on Monday. The unprecedented growth was mainly driven by substantial increase in export proceeds of raw cotton, cotton cloth, yarn, knitwear, bed wear, towels and readymade garments.

Exports of textile and clothing recorded at $1.02 billion in the previous month as against $889 million of a year ago.

The Ghent Fair, a 70-year-old traditional and largest consumer Trade Fair opened at Ghent, Belgium, with Pakistan as the guest-of-honour country. Wadia group’s textile firm Bombay Dyeing & Manufacturing Company Ltd (BDMC) has received approval from its board of directors at the meeting held on 25 May to sell/dispose off its textiles processing unit situated at Ranjangaon in Maharashtra, to Delhi based Oasis Procon, a textile manufacturer established in 2004 together with all specified tangible and intangible assets in relation the the undertaking (excluding its brand name and specific liabilities) for Rs 230 crore ($36.2 million), according to a stock market disclosure.

Pakistan textile and clothing exports during July-February had witnessed a nominal increase of just 0.47 percent as proceeds reached $9.179bn as compared to $9.136bn a year ago. But in February 2015 it has plunge to $1.087 billion compared to $1.119bn a year ago, a decline of 2.91 per cent, as per Pakistan Bureau of Statistics data on Friday.

Product-wise details show that export of low value-added products, such as cotton yarn, dropped by 0.69pc; cotton cloth 15.47pc; cotton carded 89.25pc; yarn other than cotton yarn 30.88pc and art silk 23.21pc.

Venus Group, a California-based manufacturer that makes linens, aprons, uniforms, towels and health care items will be investing $2.5 million to open a facility at 5918 Lancaster Highway, Fort Lawn in Chester County. This will bring textile manufacturing and as many as 25 jobs back to Chester County.

The Venus Group has three business units which target different segments of the market.

The Venus Institution caters to linen rental companies, health care and other related industries. Venus Home Fashion is the retail arm of the company.

Pakistan textile exports drop by 6.38pc in Dec 2014 despite GSP plus scheme

Pakistan textile exports witnessed plunge of 6.38 percent in December 2014 despite the availability of GSP Plus scheme. The major factors behind the substantial drop in exports are energy shortage and lack of working capital.

According to the Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) details, the country exported textile goods worth $1.175 billion in December against exports of $1.255 billion in the same month of previous year.

Value-added items also recorded a negative growth as cotton cloth exports declined by 13.62%, bed wear 11.54%, towels 11.39% and made-ups 10.04%.
