Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) to promote decent work environment in the garment and textile industry in Faisalabad have signed an agreement with the International Labour Organisation (ILO).

The agreement includes a framework on improving industrial relations through training and compliance with international labour standards including occupational safety and health, wages, nature of employment, discrimination and other forms of mal-practices.

Pakistan and Nepal need to focus on the promotion of bilateral business relations ensuring continued partnership for progress. Pakistan textile exports witnessed plunge of 6.38 percent in December 2014 despite the availability of GSP Plus scheme. The major factors behind the substantial drop in exports are energy shortage and lack of working capital.

According to the Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) details, the country exported textile goods worth $1.175 billion in December against exports of $1.255 billion in the same month of previous year.

Value-added items also recorded a negative growth as cotton cloth exports declined by 13.62%, bed wear 11.54%, towels 11.39% and made-ups 10.04%.

Pakistan to hold its first textile summit tomorrow

The first Pakistan Textile Summit that is jointly organized by the textile ministry, All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) and Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) is scheduled to be held at a local hotel on November 27 (Tomorrow).

The summit will have detailed discussions on the challenges being faced by the textile sector. There will be three sessions -- Textile Industry in Pakistan, Global Textile Market Outlook and Sustainability of Textile Sector.

Pakistan vision 2025 to help boost textile exports
