Pakistan textile exports recorded double digit growth of 11.24pc in August

Pakistan’s textile exports after witnessing downward trend for last several months has seen double digit growth of 11.24 percent in August 2015 as per data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) released on Monday. The unprecedented growth was mainly driven by substantial increase in export proceeds of raw cotton, cotton cloth, yarn, knitwear, bed wear, towels and readymade garments.

Exports of textile and clothing recorded at $1.02 billion in the previous month as against $889 million of a year ago.

Indian textile and apparel industry is growing at the rate of 8-12%, and if the same growth is maintained or little higher, the industry is likely to get the double-digit growth during the FY15-16. As post the union budget, the economy will remain bullish because some of the fundamentals for economic growth are looking very good, according to Sanjay Behl, Chief Executive officer (Lifestyle business), Raymond.

Strong trade link between Britain and Mexico likely to boost up textile industry of Yorkshire, as, trade between the UK and Mexico is enjoying double-digit growth, with bilateral trade in 2013 totaling £3.3bn, an increase of 15 percent on the year before, according to UK Trade & Investment.

Mexico is the UK’s fourth largest market for goods exports, and the UK is Mexico’s fifth largest inward investor. Mexico is the UK’s second largest trading partner in Latin America.
