Powerloom Development and Export Promotion Council and the Regional Office of the Textile Commissioner have organized a three day textile buyer-seller event in Coimbatore where textile mills and weaving units from different parts of the State have displayed their products. The event was inaugurated on Friday by G. Bakthavathsalam, chairman of KG Hospital.

The Handloom expo was inaugurated by the district collector R Nanthagopal on Monday which has handloom weavers attached to 57 cooperative weavers societies from across the district and some from other district who have set up around 12 stalls to market their products during this festive season.

According to K Selvarajan, assistant director handloom, the week-long expo is held to create public awareness about the handloom products besides helping the weavers to showcase their products and sell them directly to the consumers.
