SV Pittie Sohar Textiles launched their Textile Cluster in Sohar with the Inauguration of the Cotton Yarn Production Unit No. 1 by His Highness Sayyid Taimur Bin Assad Bin Tariq Al Said on 13th December, 2018. India’s petrochemicals market is estimated at $50 billion and is growing 11 percent year-on-year, said Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) chairman Sanjiv Singh. The textile cluster may draw investments worth Rs 12,000-15,000 crore while the plastic cluster offers an investment opportunity of Rs 14,000-16,000 crore.

At a meeting held with textile minister Smriti Irani in New Delhi, the Tirupur Exporters’ Association president Raja M Shanmugham said that because of its MSME dominant nature and the slender margins in which the textile industry was operating, the entire textile sector may be placed in the lowest slab of the GST so that industry can absorb the levy without any significant impact on the business.

Textile cluster will be soon coming up in Khaira block of Balasore district, which aims at bringing economic boom for the weavers who are mostly dependent on trade of handloom and handicraft products for their living.

With the establishment of the cluster, it would help strengthen the working capital base of the primary weavers’ cooperative societies to develop modernized looms, accessories, training to weavers, marketing support and design innovations.

Southern India Mills’ Association (SIMA) welcoming the Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s announcement made on Tuesday is planning to set up a textile processing park in the State for the small and medium-scale units under the Integrated Processing Development Scheme.

The association chairman T. Rajkumar said that the association will take the lead for implementation of the scheme in the State as there are about 50 SMEs in the Salem, Karur, Erode, Tirupur, Coimbatore and Madurai textile clusters will benefit from the park, when it is developed.

The cluster for textiles proposed to be set up in Mysore to turn into reality as the land has been identified for the proposed cluster at Srirampura, on the outskirts of the city which falls within the Mysore Parliamentary constituency and with the Union minister of state for textiles Santosh Kumar Gangwar inspecting the proposed site to set up the cluster early next week.

Centre has released Rs 28 crore for the textile mega cluster project in Mysore which is expected to boost investment in the region and create jobs.

The ministry of textiles, through its regional office, Navi Mumbai, is hosting a two-day buyer-seller meet for the first time for creating ‘Brand Malegaon’. Though the ministry has organized such meeting at various textile clusters at regular intervals, this is the first time that such an event is being organized in Malegaon. It is a move to boost the efforts of the textile commissioner's office, in association with Malegaon Industries' & Manufacturers' Association (MIMA).

Malegaon which has around 2 lakh traditional powerloom units without any adequate facilities for pre-weaving and post-weaving treatment, the cluster project having a common facility centre, will provide advanced technology required for powerloom units.
